Architect Magazine

Architect, the Journal for the American Institute of Architects

engagement EDITOR, content producer

2014-2017

Chelsea previously worked at B2B publishing firm Hanley Wood, LLC, for Architect magazine—the journal for the American Institute of Architects—where she regularly penned news stories on design, technology, arts, and culture while collaborating on multimedia projects. Working within a cross-functional team specializing in digital content, her work informed architects, design professionals and students, and users within the industry.

During her tenure as a content producer from September 2014 to February 2017, she wrote over 300 stories and achieved the highest traffic rate of any content producer in said team in 2016. This exposure led her to attend events such as Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, and cover its relevance within the design industry.

She also edited and deployed daily, weekly, and bi-weekly newsletters with distribution lists between 40,000 and 100,000 subscribers. Alongside her writing, she collaborated on cross-media projects involving video and interactive design.

These initiatives promoted her to Engagement Editor in March 2017, where she managed Architect’s Project Gallery, informed content strategy by analyzing reader trends via Google Analytics, and conducted A/B tests for its website and newsletters. With insights into the publication’s audience trends, she contributed to the editorial department’s social media style guides.

While holding both of these roles she oversaw Architect magazine’s Instagram account, which reached over 110K followers by October 2017 and won Folio Magazine’s “Use of Individual Social Media Network” for a B2B Publication in the 2016 Eddie Digital Awards. During her time writing for Architect, the editorial team won two Neal Awards in categories such as Best Media Brand in 2016 and Best Social Media in 2015.
